[Update: July 07] Xiaomi starts rolling out the July 2022 security patch

It looks like Xiaomi is catching up with the likes of Samsung and Google in timely security patch update releases. The Chinese company has improved its release schedule and might overtake Google, given that the tech giant is yet to release the July 2022 security patch to Pixel phones. 

Samsung started distributing the latest patch update last week and followed it up with the release to Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 this week. And while we are still waiting for Google to release the patch update to Pixel phones alongside the bulletin, the July 2022 security patch update for Xiaomi phones has started rolling out.

For the second consecutive month, Xiaomi is releasing the latest security patch update before Google. However, we are yet to know the security and privacy vulnerabilities patched with the current release. But according to the July 2022 security patch for Xiaomi POCO X4 Pro 5G, system security has been increased.

Also, the update has improved performance and fixed bugs, while new features are likely to be introduced. Nevertheless, it’s the POCO X4 Pro 5G / Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G in Europe receiving the update. We expect a wide rollout in the coming days/weeks.

The July 2022 security patch for Xiaomi MI 10T and Mi 10T Pro have been released in Europe. It is seeding with a version number MIUI 13.0.8.0 SJDEUXM, and bumped the Android security patch level to July 2022.
