Xiaomi is pushing a new update to the Redmi 5. The update is a major one coming with a version number, MIUI 10.1.3.0 ODAMIFI stable and weighs about 1.3GB. Coming along with the update is upgraded OS, camera stability, face detection bugs fix, fix with the recorder and updated security patch.

System

Android 8.1 Oreo update.

Camera (fix)

  • Issues with camera stability.
  • Face detection frame not appearing after age recognition option has been turned on.

Recorder

  • Recording status doesn’t update on the notification shade when a recording is on pause.

Unfortunately, the same update for some Redmi 5 users didn’t come with Android Oreo update. However is normal considering how Xiaomi is with the device, updating MIUI while the Android version remains intact. Most Redmi 5 plus users experienced the same thing before it finally got Oreo, and we expect the same thing for Redmi 5.

However, apart from the major changes that came with the MIUI 10.1.3.0 ODAMIFI stable update, the battery life has improved and operations are now even smoother.

The update is currently rolling out and if you haven’t got a prompt notification, then you might need to go to the updater app and scan for the latest MIUI 10.1.3.0 stable update.
