[Update: September 18] Redmi Note 8 Pro starts receiving a new update ahead of the Android 11 upgrade

Unlike the recently released Redmi Note 10 series and the predecessor, Xiaomi sold Redmi Note 8 Pro in China. That makes it eligible to participate in the MIUI closed beta group. The device is currently testing the MIUI 12.5 beta build. It has also received the Android 11, but that is limited to the beta tester group, and we anticipate the public release soon. The OTA will probably start in China before extending to other regions. However, before that, Xiaomi just released a new global stable update for Redmi Note 8 Pro. The update has increased the system security having pushed up the Android security patch level.
As usual, the update isn’t arriving for everyone just yet. Only a few selected users will receive the update for a beta preview that’ll last for a few days. After the preview and in the absence of any bug, the public rollout is likely to commence immediately. Nevertheless, you can use the link below this post and download the ROM, but that might return an error as the update is only a limited rollout.
From reports, it has a version number – MIUI 12.0.7.0 QGGMIXM – and weighs in at 362MB. It brings the February 2021 security patch to increase system security while fixing some minor bugs. The update has also optimized the performance of the system ahead of the planned Android 11 upgrade.
