Both the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Mi 9 SE are eligible for the Android 11 update but have only received the update in China. Interestingly, the latter receive the latest Android OS with a stable MIUI 12.5 update but is yet to arrive for global variants. We were optimistic that the update starts rolling globally soon, given that it has been weeks since the Chinese rollout, but that’s not the case. Xiaomi is currently rolling out a new stable update for Mi 9T and Mi 9 SE, but it sans the much-anticipated Android 11 update. It could only bump the Android security patch level and increased system security.

The wait for Android 11 continues, but we won’t wait much longer before the update starts seeding globally. Hence, it’s recommended that you download and install the new stable update for Mi 9T and Mi 9 SE. The reason is to prepare your device for a seamless transition to a new OS when the update starts arriving in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, both rollouts are seeding in batches, meaning that only a few selected users will receive the build for preview. That’ll last for a couple of days, after which a stable MIUI 12.0.8.0 QFJMIXM will arrive on your Mi 9T. If you’re using the Mi 9 SE, you’ll receive a stable MIUI 12.0.5.0 QFBEUXM. Again, both updates only pushed the Android security patch level to March 2021 to increase system security.
