Oppo R17 pro is now official with interesting premium features and some companies breakthrough. The device is a direct alternative to Oppo Find X but a lesser chipset with more features.

The breakthrough for water drop notch came with the Oppo F9/F9 Pro and has now made its way to the Oppo R17 Pro which sports a 6.4-inch display. It has a1080 x 2340px resolution and is protected with the newest Gorilla 6 glass, while the screen covers a whopping 91.5% of the front panel.

Under the helm of affairs is the latest 700-series cutting-edge offering from Qualcomm that featured in Vivo NEX A and Xiaomi MI 8 SE. The Octa-core processor is paired with 8GB RAM and coupled with 128GB internal storage, unfortunately, it doesn’t support memory expansion.

Oppo R17 Pro has its highest tech on the camera department. More interesting thing is the triple rear camera arrangement featuring variable f/1.5 – f/2.4 aperture on the 12MP main sensor. It was Samsung that first featured the tech with the unveiling of Galaxy S9 duo and has since taken to the recently unveiled Galaxy Note 9. According to Oppo, the sub 20MP sensor is for depth effect, while the third sensor is for 3D TOF depth sensor.

Oppo R17 Pro specifications include a fascinating 3700 mAh battery, split into two halves of 1,850 each. This particular tech is to enable the SuperVOOC charge to achieve a 40% battery charged in 10 minutes. Debuted with Oppo R17 Pro is under-screen identification scanner and will run Android OS 8.1 Oreo out of the box on top ColorOS 5.1.

Oppo R17 Pro price and availability

The device will be made available mid-October in China and will go on sale for CYN 4,299, which translates to about $625. Global availability is not yet in mention.

Oppo R17 Pro sports the water drop notch screen with a diagonal measurement of 64-inches. The AMOLED display according to Oppo covers 91.5% of the front panel with 1080 x 2340px resolution onboard 402PPI. Protecting the 19.5:9 aspect ratio panel display is the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which under it, the screen delivers vivid and seamless details for enhanced user experience.

Behind Oppo R17 Pro light speed performance is the first 700-series cutting edge Octa-core processor from Qualcomm; Snapdragon 710. The chip implements kryo architecture with it’s highest kryo cores clocking at 2.2GHz. It’s paired with 8GB RAM for seamless operations coupled with Adreno 616 GPU to deliver maximum graphics performance. Oppo R17 Pro will run Android OS 8.1 (Oreo) straight out of the box, on top ColorOS 5.1 pending the arrival of Android Pie.

Storage

Enough space to manage your files effortlessly. Onboard Oppo R17 Pro is a massive 128GB internal storage to safely store all your amazing moment and less deleting of life moment. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with expansion slot but the premium storage is decent enough to cope with most of what you will need it for.

Camera

Fascinating and intriguing part of the Oppo R17 Pro is mainly the camera department. It features for the second time triple rear camera shooters and a single selfie snapper. The main shooter has 12MP 1.255” sensor with variable f/1.5-f/2.4 aperture, taking straight from the Galaxy S9 duo. Meanwhile, there is a massive 1.4um pixel for clear and bright pictures accompanied by PDAF to automatically focus on what you’re snapping with aid of AI.
The second 20MP sensor according to Oppo is for achieving unclear background while the third is a TOF 3D camera. On the water drop notch is a 20MP 20mm sensor coupled with f/2.0 aperture lens and AI beauty enhancement.

Security

Just like the recently unveiled Xiaomi POCO F1 that integrated both the facial ID and a rear fingerprint identification scanner. Oppo R17 Pro also features dual identification but on the contrary an under-screen scanner. So, either way, you get maximum security with 0.1s response time to further enhance your experience.

Battery

The SuperVOOC fast charging tech also features in the Oppo R17 Pro, which according to the industry charges 40% in 10 minutes. However for maximum performance the 3700mAh none removable battery is split into two and will charge with type-c USB cable.
