Xiaomi News

POCO M2 Pro is official with Quad-camera and Snapdragon 720G, but the design?

Early this year, Xiaomi confirmed POCO as an independent brand. The company has gone to announce POCO X2, POCO F2 Pro, and now, POCO M2 Pro is official. It comes with a big display, massive battery, a super-fast charging solution, but we have seen that design before.

POCO M2 Pro

POCO fans are now questioning the authenticity of the brand as it gives them rebadged Redmi phones. First, it was the Redmi K30 introduced as POCO X2 while the K30 Pro was launched as POCO F2 Pro globally, and now the Redmi Note 9 Pro / Note 9 Pro Max debuting as Poco M2 Pro.

The first Pocophone F1 received a warm reception given its uniqueness and aggressive pricing, but since after the spin-off from the parent company, things have changed. POCO fans believe the brand has everything to succeed but are now taking it carelessly. According to a fan, “the company is milking money on Pocophone F1 reputation.”

Everyone wants something unique, which is an aspect the Poco team has failed since gaining independence. It’s time the company starts making their phones with unique designs unless they want to lose their customers.

Meanwhile, the POCO M2 Pro is official with a 6-67-inch IPS panel and runs Snapdragon 720G under the hood. It has the same camera set-up as the Redmi Note 9 Pro – primary 48MP sensor, 8MP ultrawide-angle-lens, 5MP Macro, and 2MP depth sensor. The 16MP selfie snapper is integrated inside the front notch for taking trending selfie shots.

POCO M2 Pro is official

According to Poco, the device is water-resistant, but we doubt the authenticity of that as the device doesn’t feature any official IP rating. With that in mind, it must be an advertising gimmick. The fingerprint scanner sits at the power button, again taken from Redmi Note 9 Pro.

The device draws power from a 5000mAh battery with a 33W fast charging solution. This time, they have to borrow it from the Note 9 Pro Max. So, it means the POCO M2 Pro is the gap between the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.

POCO M2 Pro is official in three colors

The POCO M2 Pro has a special gradient finishing, unlike the Note 9 Pro. It comes in colors of Blue, Green and Greener, and Two Shades of Black. The device will be available from July 17 exclusively on Flipkart starting from INR 13,999 ($185). The 6/64GB combo starts at INR 14,999 ($200), while the 6/128 memory variant will set you back INR 16,999 ($255).
