[Update: August 21] Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi 8A Dual MIUI 12.5 update released in India

Xiaomi has released the Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi 8A Dual MIUI 12.5 update in India. That was expected after the Chinese release, but that came faster than expected. Also, considering that some mid-range phones are yet to start pushing the MIUI 12.5 update, we thought the update might come much later. However, that’s not the case, as the trio is now receiving the much-anticipated update. It is a limited rollout for now and it is still based on Android 10.

The global MIUI 12.5 rollout isn’t following a particular sequence. It seems Xiaomi is now pushing the update to entry-level devices while mid-rangers are kept waiting. Perhaps, developers of these devices need to fine-tune the build before they start pushing them out. Hence, the reason why Redmi 8, Redmi 8A, and Redmi 8A Dual MIUI 12.5 update has been released. 

The update is available for the Redmi 8 as MIUI 12.5.1.0 QCNINXM in a 611 MB package. It comes with those anticipated features of MIUI 12.5 and also bumped the Android security patch level to July 2021. The Redmi 8A and Redmi 8A dual are receiving a stable MIUI 12.5.1.0 QCPINXM and MIUI 12.5.1.0 QCQINXM, respectively.
