Google has been testing Android 12 for months now and is right for OEM to participates in the test for a swift rollout when the stable version becomes available. The company is expected to release stable Android 12 with the upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Unfortunately, there’s currently no ETA when the device will be released, but we believe it is imminent. The build has reached platform stability, meaning developers can start testing the compatibility and quality of their apps with Android 12. That’s why we have seen Xiaomi release Android 12-based MIUI builds to closed beta testers.
It was the Xiaomi Mi 11 that received the build before it was pushed to the Redmi K40 Pro / Pro Plus and Mi 11 Ultra/ Pro. And going by the recent report, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max, Redmi 10, and Mi 11 Lite 4G Android 12 update has entered internal testing. It means Xiaomi developers have started testing the build, and if things go smoothly, the build will arrive for beta testers soon.
Unfortunately, none of the phones is available in China, and that means it will take a longer time before it starts seeding to stable beta testers. Unlike the closed beta group in China, stable beta testers receive only stable builds. And given how long it takes before a cross-section Android upgrade is released after testing, it might take months. But who knows, we might be in for yet another surprise if what happened with Redmi Note 9 Pro was intended.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro was the first midrange Xiaomi phone to receive Android 11, and given that the successor is already testing Android 12, the Redmi Note 10 Pro / Max might bag Android 12 soon. We expect the same for the Redmi 10 and Mi 11 Lite 4G, which are also testing the build internally.
