Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 7 early last year running stable Android 10 on top MIUI 11 Android skin. The device has already bagged the Android 10 update in most regions, while the stable MIUI 12 has been released for limited users. However, the Redmi Note 7 users in Europe are just getting the stable Android 10 update.
The update has a software designation MIUI 11.0.1.0 QFQEUXM and weighs in at 2.0GB. Aside from updating the OS, it bumps the Android security patch to July 2020, while improving the system security. However, it seems the update has left some bugs, which are now affecting the performance of the device.
According to one of the device users, “after the update, the camera crashes when going to slow-motion mode. I cleared app data/reset the device but the issue remains.” The simple way to get around such bug is to clear the camera app data or perform a factory reset, which the user has already done, but the issue persisted.
There’s another user on the Mi community forum, who after updating his device to Android 10, no longer connects to available Wi-Fi. Also, according to this particular user, the screen turned black after getting his device on the latest build. That’s not all, the device is said to be slow, and it started after the MIUI 11.0.1.0.QFQEUXM update.
Xiaomi is yet to comment on any of the reported bugs, though, but you can try few things. The few workaround is to perform a factory reset on the affected device, which will fix most of the bugs. However, you should back up your data to a safe location before resetting your device.
And if you have got a black screen, we suggest you take the phone to a care center and have it checked. It won’t be advisable to risk flashing the device, especially when you have got a locked bootloader. Nevertheless, we’ll be keeping track of these bugs, in case Xiaomi starts rolling out a fix, or suggests a more better way to get rid of them without losing your data.
As for when the MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 7 users in Europe will start rolling out, there’s no ETA. But expect the update to start arriving very soon since it’s already live in most regions. It will also bring fixes to some, if not all, the issues that were mentioned above.
