It seems Xiaomi has defied the narrative of some people that phones running Mediatek processors don’t receive updates on time compared to the Snapdragon counterparts. Recall that the Redmi Note 8 Pro runs Mediatek Helio G90T SoC, and has received both stable Android 10 and MIUI 12 update, while the Note 8 with Snapdragon 665 is still languishing in Android Pie based on MIUI 11.
Again, the Redmi Note 9 runs a Mediatek processor and is now receiving a stable MIUI 12 update while the Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, and Redmi Note 9S that runs Snapdragon 720G SoC, are yet to start getting the update. However, it’s only a matter of when the MIUI 12 update will start arriving for the devices because they’re very eligible for updates and even the MIUI 13.
The stable MIUI 12 update for Redmi Note 9, is arriving for selected users, hence, if you haven’t received the update, that’s because you’re not among the Beta testers. After the beta preview, in the absence of any serious issue, the update will be released for the general public. Kindly wait for the update, or you can follow the link below and manually flash.
Meanwhile, the update is arriving with a build number, “MIUI 12.0.2.0 QJOMIXM”, and weighs in at 507MB. It brings all the features of MIUI 12, an updated Android Security patch, and improved system security. From the feedback, there’s no bug while the phone idle percentage issue has been fixed.
Unfortunately, the Super wallpaper function won’t work on your device. It’s because only a few Xiaomi phones with higher mobile performance support the function, mostly flagship phones. Check the below image for supported devices.
