The global MIUI 12.5 update has only arrived for a handful of devices as Xiaomi keeps prioritizing the Chinese users. So far, only Redmi Note 10S, Xiaomi Mi 11, and Redmi Note 10 Pro have received the update in select regions. However, it’s a limited rollout to preview the build for bugs before releasing it to the public. Unlike the global rollout, the Chinese branch of MIUI keeps adding new devices each day with the latest release – Xiaomi Mi 10S MIUI 12.5 update.
Xiaomi launched the Mi 10S – a refreshed version of the company’s flagship Mi 10 series – in April this year. It sports the same design as the Mi 10 but has its features improved to meet the current smartphone trends. The device gets a 90Hz refresh rate AMOLED display with up to 1100nits peak brightness. Instead of Snapdragon 865, it features the recently released Snapdragon 870 SoC. Outside-of-the-box, the device runs Android 11 on top of MIUI 12, of which Xiaomi is now rolling out the latest MIUI skin for the device.
The stable Xiaomi Mi 10S MIUI 12.5 update is hitting eligible users in China. It has a version number – MIUI 12.5.1.0 RGACNXM – and brings the features of the new Android skin. However, it might take some time before a notification appears on your device for a new update unless you’re a member of Mi Pilots. They’re the people receiving the new update to preview it for bugs before it starts rolling out to the public.
And while MIUI 12.5 has improved the device performance, it disabled the Google framework. That means, if you’ve Google services on your device, it will stop functioning after upgrading to MIUI 12.5. Luckily, there’s a workaround that’s exclusive to Snapdragon 800-powered Xiaomi phones. Head over to this link and learn how to enable Google Play services after the upgrade.
