This year saw a change in approach to the unveiling of Xiaomi premium of the year. For years, the Chinese OEM has always presented the Pro and vanilla version of its premium Mi-series in the same launch event. That changed this year as they only presented the Mi 11 Pro a couple of days ago, three months after the unveiling of the Mi 11. Interestingly, the Mi 11 Pro debuted with Mi 11 Ultra -the most sophisticated Xiaomi phone yet – while the Mi Mix Fold launched in a separate event. 

Both devices present some new hardware and software features with the Mi 11 Ultra, the first Xiaomi phone to run the MIUI 12.5 outside of the box. With the current iteration of MIUI, Xiaomi has reduced power consumption, memory usage, and background memory usage. They have also started rolling out the update in China, and so far, the Mi 11, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 9 SE, Mi 10, and Mi 10 Pro have all received the update in a limited rollout.
