With Xiaomi now testing the MIUI 12.5 update, they’ll look to finalize the MIUI 12 rollout. That’s probably why we have seen more eligible phones start receiving the update in the last couple of days. We also expect more devices to come aboard, with the latest to start receiving the update, Mi 6X of 2018.
The Mi 6X is the Chinese version of Mi A2. Both phones have the same development, but the latter runs stock Android and is currently on Android 10. It’s not the same for Mi 6X as the device currently runs Android Pie on top MIUI 11 and won’t get past that. However, it’s now receiving some features of the current Android version, which Xiaomi baked inside the MIUI 12.
The Xiaomi Mi 6X MIUI 12 update is rolling out in China with a version number MIUI 12.0.1.0 PDCCNXM and weighs in at about 821MB. As per the changelog, the update, aside from introducing the MIUI 12 features, updated the Android security patch level to November 2020. It also optimized the control center layout in landscape mode while improving system security and stability.
Meanwhile, it is a limited rollout for now. It will arrive on more units after the beta preview, which will last for a couple of days if there’s no bug found on the build. But as usual, we have below this post a link to download both the Recovery and OTA ROM if you opt for manual flashing.
