Xiaomi MI Max 2 updates to MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.1.2, but still on Android 7.1.1

Xiaomi started sending out MIUI 10 update in May and many of their devices both high-end and mid-range has been receiving the update. The latest to receive the MIUI 10 update is Redmi 6, which the company is also looking for Beta tester for the device. According to Xiaomi, they plan to roll out the MIUI 10 update based on Oreo to all compatible device before the end of October this year.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi MI Max 2 is now receiving MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.1.2 update but the Android is still at 7.1.1 (Nougat). It’s also expected that the stable version of the update won’t be any good either as par Oreo upgrade. So technically, Xiaomi MI Max 2 won’t be upgrading to Android Oreo with MIUI 10.

The device was released last year running Android 7.1.1 out of the box and even till now there’s has been no upgrade in the Android version. It’s no doubt a great disappoint to Mi Max 2, they won’t be enjoying the Oreo goodies.

The reason maybe based on compatibility but the device is powered by Snapdragon 625 and is the same with Redmi 5 Plus (Redmi Note 5), which has started receiving MIUI 10 based on Android Oreo. Anyways, we only have to wait to see what happens.
