Just when smartphone specs start getting boring the world’s first wraparound screen device dubbed Xiaomi MI Mix Alpha makes its debut with some compelling technology. It’s the first smartphone to feature 108MP camera from Samsung while running latest Qualcomm Chipset.

Xiaomi MI Mix Alpha Specs
Display
The Mi Mix Alpha display marks the feature of the smartphone display. Though you can’t unwrap the screen like Mate X and Galaxy fold to achieve a continuous panel, it has allowed the design achieve a record 180% body-to-screen ratio. There are a 2.15mm top and bottom bezel and a strip at the back that houses all the camera lens present on the device. There’s no selfie camera because you can take selfies using the back cameras as well.
There’s a palm rejection technology while the edges are pressure sensitive and will serve as notification. The phone uses ultrasonic proximity sensor and Display Acoustic Technology to emit sound. And to make sure not every fall leads to damage, Xiaomi had to use sapphire glass to make the device nearly unbreakable.
Performance
The performance won’t be better than what we’ve seen in the past couple of months since it’s Snapdragon 855 plus. The Chip is paired with 12GB RAM, meaning it can withstand any level of multitasking. Coupled with the Adreno 640 GPU, graphics rendering will be top-notch and will enhance users experience.
Camera
If you don’t fancy the Mi Mix Alpha for the wrapped display, then you might like its 108MP camera. The camera has a massive 1/33″ sensor size, f/1.7 aperture which allows the sensor to take more light and the binning technology that enhances the shots even farther to produce 27MP shots.
The telephoto cam is a 12MP lens with 2x optical zoom, f/2.0 aperture, Dual Pixel PDAF, Laser AF, 1/[email protected]″ sensor size and 1.4um pixel size while the third lens is a 20MP ultra-wide angle lens. There are no selfie cameras because the three cameras at the back will serve that purpose.
Storage
The fact that there’s no opening on the phone except for the USB port, means that there can’t be any form of external expansion. The phone comes with a 512GB internal memory, which is practically enough to store all your file. Nevertheless, you can still make use of Xiaomi Cloud to store your files as well if there’s any need.
Battery
Xiaomi made use of a nano silicone cathode cell with 4050mAh capacity. It supports 40W Quick charge via USB-C port and 30W wireless charging via Xiaomi’s new wireless stand. The stand helps you charge the device from 0-100% in 70 minutes.
Security
For biometric authentication, Xiaomi MI Mix Alpha uses optical in-display reader. It’s said to be faster than what we’ve seen in the past with improved biometric recognition.
