Xiaomi is still pushing its latest iteration of MIUI to eligible phones, but the speed of the Global rollout is slow. In China, the update has already arrived for Redmi 7. The surprising thing is that the device bagged the update before the Redmi Note 7 Pro and some Xiaomi flagship phones. Of course, we understand it is Chinese ROM users first, but disappointing that the update is yet to arrive for all variants of the Mi Note 10 / Pro.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro MIUI 12.5 update first arrived on global variants before its trip to Indonesia. As expected, it brings the features of the new MIUI OS, although most of the features are missing. But that’s what you should deal with not using the Chinese ROM as Xiaomi is makes feature-rich ROM for that region. Nevertheless, you still get the basic features of the new OS, like an improvement on gestures and optimization that has made the system smoother, lighter and faster. Also, power consumption and background memory have been reduced. Interestingly, there’s an incoming feature that’ll help improve energy consumption and reduce heating.
The update has improved haptic feedback, added new system sounds, and revamped the Note App. With MIUI 12.5, it’s now possible to uninstall some system apps, but that seems not to be working at the moment. We expect Xiaomi to enable the feature in the upcoming build, hopefully. However, the issue with the third-party launcher is still there, so you don’t bother reverting after upgrading your device.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro MIUI 12.5 update is a limited rollout. The update is seeding to Mi Pilots for preview but would be available for the public in the coming days. You can install the ROM if you have an authorized Mi Beta account or TWRP recovery installed, anyways.
