List of Xiaomi phones that won’t get Android 12 update

Google is already making plans to release the next iteration of its Android OS. The next Android OS is dubbed Android 12 and has already entered a stable beta phase. It has since arrived for flagship Xiaomi phones, of which the testing is still ongoing. Currently, about five Xiaomi phones are testing the update in China and will probably receive the update before others. We already listed other phones that’ll receive the update alongside the ones testing the build.

Xiaomi phones that won't get Android 12 update

According to Xiaomiui, the Xiaomi Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, Redmi K40 / Mi 11i / POCO F3 / Mi 11X, Redmi K40 Pro / Plus / Mi 11X Pro, Mi 11 Lite 5G, and Mi 10S are currently testing Android 12. These phones will receive the update alongside the ones listed here. However, few popular Xiaomi phones that won’t get Android 12 update. Some of these phones are quite popular in the market, but due to the Xiaomi update policy, they will miss out on the next Android update.

Nevertheless, these phones won’t miss out entirely as Xiaomi is integrating some features of the new Android OS into MIUI. We have seen the introduction of approximate location as a form of security, enhanced security, UI redesign, optimization, and bug fixes. Hopefully, the phones listed below will receive the upcoming MIUI 13 build. That will introduce some features of Android 12.

  • Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite / Mi CC9
  • Xiaomi Mi 9T / Redmi K20
  • Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro / Redmi K20 Pro
  • Xiaomi Mi Note 10 / Pro / Mi CC9 Pro
  • Redmi Note 8/8T
  • Redmi Note 8 Pro
  • Redmi Note 7
  • Redmi 9
  • Redmi 9A / 9AT
  • Redmi 9C

The Redmi Note 9 series phones are not on the list, but they’re likely not to receive the Android 12 update. It has been one Android OS upgrade for mid-range phones until the recent development with Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro. If that continues with Redmi Note 9 series phones, it would be that Xiaomi has changed their policy.
