Xiaomi Shark 2 official with improved screen performance

Xiaomi has officially announced Black Shark 2 in China. The new gaming device has some remarkable features especially as it concerns the display performance.

Meanwhile, the screen has a 6.39-inch 1080p+ HDR-enabled AMOLED display, with the input latency now smashed to 43.5ms to improve the speed at which the screen responds to touch. By pressing harder on the screen, it allows you to allocate buttons to both left and right of the screen, thanks to the Magic Press due to the pressure sensitivity.

To ensure accurate representation of colors, Black Shark 2 has DCI-P3 color space with ∆E <1. And to ensure it doesn’t deviate, there’s four ambient light sensor that works with the image processor to monitor your surroundings, keeping the screen correctly.

Still, on the screen, the brightness can rank up to 400 nits and there is a Full DC dimming to avert flicker issues in low light situations. According to our source, there’s a motion interpolation similar to high frame mode on a TV.

Away from the display now, Black Shark 2 will deliver high-level performance with the newly launched Snapdragon 855 on the wheel. It’s paired with up to 12GB LPPDR4x RAM and couple with the Liquid Cool 3.0 vapor chamber cooling system for a 14°c decrease in CPU temperature. Xiaomi also added a Cooling case with a fan that helps reduced the temperature by another 5°C, to make sure you always get peak performance.

On board the Black Shark 2, there’s what Xiaomi calls Ludicrous Mode. It helps to ease temperature reduction, while AI sees that all operations are running smoothly from CPU/GPU to network and the charging speed.

To spice things up, the device has a dual camera arrangement with the main shooter a 48MP module. It’s a Quad Bayer sensor with 0.8um pixel and f/1.75 aperture lens, definitely will result in bright shots. The depth sensor is a 12MP 2x telephoto lens with a 1.0um pixel, while the selfie snapper maintains a 20MP f/2.0 shooter.

The Black Shark 2 will draw power from a 4000mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging. The device also has two front-facing stereo speakers to emit sounds regardless of how you’re holding the device. For biometric verification, Xiaomi has decided on making use of in-display scanner.

For pricing and availability, the Black Shark 2 is now available in China starting at CNY 3200 for the base 6/128GB version. The more premium 12/256GB variant will sell for CNY 4,200, then there’s the 8/256GB model exclusively in Frozen Silver color but unfortunately, the price is unknown.
