While those in China and participating in the MIUI 12.5 closed beta testing are receiving the Android 11 build, some Global Redmi Note 8 users are still in MIUI 11. The first Redmi Note 8 MIUI 12 update arrived towards the tail of last year. However, it couldn’t go around due to a bug. That forced the company to start rolling out an incremental build that arrived in the form of MIUI 11.0.12.0 to try and fix that bug, but it didn’t do much.
On the last days of December 2020, the company promised to roll out a new MIUI 12 update for the global Redmi Note 8 users in the early weeks of this month. They did keep their promise by releasing the MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCOMIXM build, which started arriving a couple of days ago. But like the two other builds, it didn’t arrive on Redmi Note units on V11.0.12.0, which once more triggered the user’s frustrations.
And after many queries from frustrated users on when the update will arrive for Redmi Note 8 units on V11.0.12.0, the company said it’ll finalize the update this week. Again, the company kept its promise going by the recent reports. Those on V11.0.11.0 and V11.0.12.0 are currently receiving the MIUI 12 update for the first time.
The update is arriving with a version number, MIUI 12.0.3.0 QCOMIXM, and weighs in at 2.1GB. It comes with the January 2021 security patch and improved system security. Aside from bumping the security patch level, some bugs have been fixed, while the update also brings a much-anticipated Android 10. You’ll get all the MIUI 12 features as well, which include a new control center, dark mode, floating window, new system animation, and more.
