After all the disappointments, Xiaomi finally released a stable MIUI 12 for Redmi Note 8 a couple of days ago. The update, as expected arrived alongside Android 10 and has since been made available for the public. However, there’s an issue, particularly with those running MIUI 11.0.11.0 on their device.
Normally, after an update is released for the public, anyone using the phone can flash the ROM via the Updater App by “choosing update package.” However, those Global Redmi Note 8 users on V11.0.11.0 have continued to get error messages trying to flash the ROM.
At first, we thought maybe developers are yet to unlock the ROM on Xiaomi’s serves. However, after some days, moderators on the Mi community forum confirmed there’s an issue with that particular version (V11.0.11.0) and that developers need to fix it before those on that build could receive MIUI 12 via OTA or even flash using the Updater App.
It has been days since users reported the issue, which moderators confirmed that developers are working on it. Unfortunately, they didn’t give an ETA as to when the update will start seeding, but we might as well have an ETA now.
According to the latest response, this time from a Mi Tech Team, the global Redmi Note 8 users on V11.0.11.0 will likely start receiving the MIUI 12 via OTA in December. That time frame is probably a long time to wait, but we recommend that you wait for the update to arrive via OTA.
Although unlocking the device Bootloader and flashing the fastboot ROM will do the magic, you will lose all your data in that process. It’s better to wait for the update to arrive via OTA, which according to one of the Mi Tech Team, could start seeding in December.
