Xiaomi has been rolling out the stable MIUI 12.5 update for months now, but it doesn’t look like they are finalizing it soon. The global users, especially have been waiting for the update on few devices, and that has left some people frustrated. It’s more annoying when those in the same region as you have received the update, but you keep waiting. Also, some Xiaomi phones go months/years without receiving an OTA. Luckily, that’s what you can fix, and here’s how to receive MIUI 12.5 update and subsequent OTAs faster.

Unlike other Smartphone OEMs, Xiaomi provides a direct link to every MIUI update. That means you can easily download the correct ROM version of your device and flash it manually. Also, they have a feature built inside the updater app, that when enabled, makes OTAs come faster. Interestingly, there’s an option the allows switching of the region to get OTAs faster. Enable Receive Updates Early

There’s what Xiaomi calls Mi Pilots – the first set of people to get MIUI rollouts. That might be true, but some users not on this list also get the update early. You can enable Receive Updates Early from the updater app.

• First, head over to Settings >>About Phone>>Tap on MIUI version multiple times till you’re a developer
• After that, go back and tap on MIUI 12 logo to open the updater app. Click on the three dots at the top right and tap on update settings, and toggle on Receive Updates Early
• Then go back and tap on check for updates multiple times till the update shows up

Change Region

Most times, the region you’re in can delay the OTA from appearing on your device. Luckily, there’s a way to change your region, especially if you’re on ROMs like global and Europe. These two cover a lot of countries, and you can easily change your location from settings.

Head over to Settings >>Additional Settings >>Region and then select any region from the list. After that, go back updater app and check for a new update.

Flash Recovery ROM
