Today, the MIUI 12 will be introduced Globally for the first time in over 10 years. The Custom Android skin has been on Closed Beta testing in China with Stable ROM scheduled to start rolling out from next month. The Redmi Note 7 will be getting the update in July alongside Note 7 Pro, Note 8 Pro, among others. But while we wait on the global unveiling to learn when the update will be hitting the global variant, a new Redmi Note 7 Global stable update is now arriving with the May Android security patch.
The update is a patch build which brings a new security patch, improved system security, and bug fixes. Meanwhile, there are few changes such as renaming the Browser to Mi Browser, but it seems none of the previously reported bugs were fixed.
According to feedback from the Mi community, no bug is fixed. They also complained of battery drain issue, but thats always with every new update. Thus, if you face battery draining issues after downloading the new Redmi Note 7 Global stable update, you should give it time to adapt to your battery life cycle.
Meanwhile, the update is arriving with a version number – MIUI 11.0.6.0 PFGMIXM. It will progressively arrive on all compatible devices ( running official and latest MIUI ROM) in the next few hours. However, you can always head to the Updater app and see whether the new update has arrived on your device.

Unfortunately, the update is still based on Android Pie, but with MIUI 12 launching Globally today, it means Android 10 will arrive soon, probably with the MIUI 12 update. The Redmi Note 7 debuted running Android Pie and will be upgraded to Android 10. We believe it will arrive once the stable MIUI 12 update starts rolling out, and we hope to learn more in the coming days.
