Xiaomi will try to finalize the MIUI 12 rollout before it starts seeding MIUI 12.5. According to our early report, the latter is expected to arrive at the end of this month, and hence we hope to see more phones receive MIUI 12 update.
And just as expected, the company has now released the Redmi 8 MIUI 12 update to the global ROM users. It’s a 649MB package and has a version number MIUI 12.0.1.0 QCNMIXM. Of course, it’s the first MIUI 12 update that has been released for the device, and will get to other regions very soon.
As per the changelog, the Redmi 8 MIUI 12 update comes with most of the features baked inside MIUI 12 alongside bug fixes and optimization. It has supposedly fixed the home screen going black and flashing after unlocking in some cases. For other changes that came with the update, you can check for that below this post.
Meanwhile, the update is currently available for limited users. The public rollout hasn’t been initiated yet, so it might take days before the update makes it to your device. However, we have added a link below this post, from where you can download the recovery and OTA ROM for a manual flash.
Note: you can only flash the ROM successfully if you have an authorized Mi Beta account, or it will return an error message. When that happens, give it some days and try back or wait for the OTA.
