Stable beta MIUI 11 update starts rolling out for Mi 9 SE in Europe while the Chinese variant already bagged MIUI 12

If you have been following MIUI updates, it won’t be a new thing seeing Chinese variants get Major updates weeks before the global variant. That’s the case of Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, which has since received the stable MIUI 12 build in China. It arrived with a build number, MIUI 12.0.1.0 QFBCNXM, and weighs in at 817MB. Global users were expecting to receive the same treatment but were surprised when they started receiving a stable beta MIUI 11 update this morning.

Those units in Europe are the ones that started receiving the update today, which bumps the security patch level to June 2020. It also fixed some minor bugs, improved the system security and stability. As always, with all MIUI rollouts, the update will also arrive in batches, and as such, it will take time before appearing on all eligible units.

If you’re running the unofficial ROM, unfortunately, you’re not going to receive the update via OTA. However, you can download the Recovery ROM and flash manually using TWRP or with this guide.

Meanwhile, the stable beta MIUI 11 update, that’s being rolled out to Xiaomi Mi 9 SE in Europe, has a software number, MIUI 11.0.5.0 QFBEUXM. As for when the MIUI 12 update will start arriving for the device, Xiaomi didn’t give any ETA. However, it’s expected to arrive soon since the update is already live in some regions.
