Qualcomm keeps working towards closing the gap between the premium device and mid-range segment. Their latest move is the unveiling of Snapdragon 670 SoC, to bridge the gap between Snapdragon 710 and SD 660 SoC.
The Snapdragon 670 is built on 10nm LLP process to provide smartphones users a quick and efficient experience on their phones. Also, the multi-core artificial intelligence AI Engine according to Qualcomm offers 2x the performance of the Snapdragon 660 SoC. It provides reliable connectivity with support of X12 modem and the graphics rendering is now 30% faster compared to the previous generation with the help of Adreno 615 GPU. Contributing to the improved performance is Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP, Qualcomm Hexagon 684 DSP, and Kryo 360 cores that make up the 670 SoC.
The Octa-core chip is powered by the Qualcomm AI engine to bring innovative experience on a smartphone. Combining for the astonishing and efficient photography and voice recognition performance is Hexagon Vector Processor, Adreno visual processing subsystem, and Kryo CPU. The kryo cluster has 2 big core clocking at 2.0 GHz and 6 cores clocking at 1.7GHz.
Both cores are manufactured independently to focus entirely on different operations. Two cores focus only on data-intensive operations, while the six cores are for daily demands, that contributes to the 15% performance improvement when compared to the previous generation interns of smooth operations and high-speed multitasking.
Snapdragon 670 SoC features new Adreno 615 GPU to deliver console-like gaming, lifelike graphics, ultra HD video capture and playback on the mobile experience. Also, the power consumption has been reduced, while a speed-boosting turbo function and access to the latest graphics APIs have been added.
For light speed connectivity, Snapdragon 670 is equipped with an X12 modem to provide reliable connections even in worst conditions. It allows automatic switching between LTE and Wi-Fi for better quality audio and video calls. Snapdragon 670 SoC can reach 600Mbps peak download speed and a peak upload speed of 150Mbps.
The latest SoC has been revamped to deliver accurate and decent shots, featuring Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP. It can support a 25MP single camera and can go 16 MP dual shooters. Features like Ultra HD 4k video capture @30fps, Zero shutter lag, and a hybrid Autofocus has been improved for better performance. It also supports Motion Compensated Temporal Filtering on high-quality video capturing and accelerated electronic image stabilization.
The Snapdragon 670 supports Qualcomm Quick charge 4+ fast charging technology that charges 50% from 0 in 15 minutes. It also offers 30% efficiency compared to the previous generation
