Timely updates are another reason why lots of people opt for Xiaomi phones aside from their affordable price tag. These updates are mostly rolled out every month to fix security vulnerabilities and to improve the system performance. However, the Mi Mix 3 5G has received the worst support ever since it hit the shelves. The device until recently never received any form of support and currently runs the pre-installed OS version.
Meanwhile, things have changed a bit, but that was after so much agitation from Xiaomi fans who bought the device. In August, the device received a security patch update, and after some weeks, just ahead of time, Xiaomi released a stable MIUI 12 update for the device in Europe. And now, the Global units start receiving the update as well.
The global MIUI 12 update for the Mi Mix 3 5G is arriving in a 1.2GB package. It has a version number, MIUI 12.0.1.0 PEMMIXM, and will progressively arrive on eligible users (running official MIUI ROM) in the coming days. Coming along with the update is all the features of MIUI 12, including bug fixes and system optimization. However, some of the features, especially the new control center and super wallpaper, need to be activated manually.
And unlike the European MIUI 12 ROM, the global version has the 5G option under preferred network choice. If you’re using the EEA version, please know that the 5G is always the preferred option unless you select 3G or 2G. For more clarifications, you should check out this post.
