The latest PS5 System update brings 1440p VRR support and some improvements

Here’s the crux of the matter: Sony is rolling out a new PS5 System update that will be bringing in a slew of impressive features, one of which is the 1440 VRR support. The latest PS5 System update will be coming in through the beta program sadly. However, rumours say that the update will be rolling out globally in March – a month away. 

Features of the latest PS5 System update 

According to Sony’s changelog, the most significant change in firmware version 7.00 – the latest PS5 System update – is Discord integration. According to the corporation, an audio conversation between Xbox or PC users is now available. To start a voice conversation on your PlayStation 5, you must first use the Discord program on a PC or smartphone. You may also need to reconnect your Discord and PlayStation Network accounts if you did so before installing firmware update 7.00.

Furthermore, Sony has extended HDMI variable refresh rate (VRR) capabilities to 1440p screens. Please keep in mind that HDMI VRR will only operate if the PlayStation 5 is connected to an HDMI 2.1-compatible monitor.
